On June 28, 2025, I made a late morning brunch stop at Zookeeper Bistro in the heart of Cashiers, NC — and this cozy spot delivered exactly what you want from a local breakfast joint: good food, friendly service, and a warm, easygoing vibe.

There was a nice crowd of friendly people, a steady flow of conversation, and a chill energy throughout. Most of the seating was indoors, but there’s a pet-friendly outdoor area as well, making it a comfortable option for travelers with dogs or folks looking to enjoy a mild mountain morning. 

It’s located just off the main road, close to downtown Cashiers and its many shops — ideal if you’re exploring for the day.

We went full breakfast mode with a Western omelet, grits, potatoes, eggs, and sausage — a satisfying Southern-style plate. The portion sizes were generous, the food was well-prepared, and while the presentation wasn’t flashy, the flavor and consistency stood out.
